On a very selective basis, I am happy to loan or rent equipment to serious music students who are seeking to record their own ensembles. I am very selective about this! At present, I am limiting this service to currently-enrolled music performance majors and graduate students.
While much of my equipment is "prosumer" grade equipment (e.g. a level below the professional equipment used in commercial recording), some of it is quite specialized and not something an average hobbyist would have available to them. For this reason, I enjoy making it available for serious students to record their own music.
14' tall microphone stand (for Decca tree/OCCO/main array)
120cm stereo bar w/ 20mm shock mounts (4)
4-channel Cat5 XLR snakes
Ethercon cable (long runs of 100', 50' and 25')
Other field recording equipment as needed
I am hesitant to loan or rent microphones unless I am very familiar with the student. Because I do not charge (or request a modest donation to a foundation) for these loans/rentals, the student must pickup and return the equipment directly to me in Downtown Lansing. My own recording schedule impacts the availability of these items.
