I am an amateur/hobbyist audio engineer who specializes in academic chamber music. In my "day job," I am a community college president with a heavy meeting and travel schedule. Despite my busy professional life, recording has been a welcome avocation for me. My BA, MA, and PhD degrees are from Michigan State University, so I especially enjoy helping Spartans with their recording needs (though I am happy to help musicians from other colleges and universities within driving distance).
I live in Downtown Lansing, so the performance spaces at MSU and nearby churches are quite familiar to me.
Over the past several years, I have recorded in most of the performance and rehearsal spaces at MSU. My equipment is self-contained, and I do not require the use of any on-site technology, nor do I need help loading in or tearing down. Ideally, I will require access to the performance space one hour to 90 minutes prior to the performance. In the event of a pre-performance rehearsal or run though, this is an ideal time for me to set up my equipment and get sound levels prior to the performance.
In most cases, I can provide quality audio files within 24 hours of the performance. I am also accustomed to tight deadlines for competition and audition recordings. I share recordings by creating a Google Drive folder where you can access and download the files.
I truly enjoy the process of recording, and it gives me special pride to provide high-quality recordings for academic musicians. While I minored in music as an undergraduate, my own musicianship is at a very rudimentary level. I much prefer being on the other side of the microphones.
